Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
We are blessed to have one of the best conditioned courses in the state. The National at Par 5 Resort opened in 1987 and was designed by Ed Locke as a tribute to all the great links courses in the world. But don't let the word links fool you as The National has some great water features and lead to outstanding risk reward holes.
If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
The National is a really exciting course that is generous off the tee, but you need to be precise on your approach shots. Plus, we are out in the country so your group feels they are away from it all! Finally, our on site restaurant and friendly staff always make it a welcoming experience.
What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
Make sure you check out of the wind direction and speed before every shot, even chips and pitches. The course in almost tree-less, so you need to master the knock down shot to score well!
Any recent changes to the golf course? Or any upcoming changes?
We are continually improving our course conditions and irrigation systems so our guests has the best experience possible.
Recent Awards or What You Are Most Proud About The Course?
In the mid-2000's The National hosted a Hooters Tour event which brought the best young PGA TOUR hopeful gofers to our property!
What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
That is a tough one! Our bookend par-5's #9 and #18 are amazing ways to finish each nine and must be played with more precision than power. Also, I love the par-3 11th and par-3 17th, which both have large railroad ties leading up the greens.
What Is Your Favorite Hole? Any Tips to Play It?
I would say #11 as it is such a cool par-3 that requires a well-struck shot over water to a stunning green.
Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole?
Our pizzas are world famous plus our all-you-can-eat breakfasts are outstanding as well! Some of our golf packages include a free breakfast so you'll never be hungry on the 1st tee.
For the traveling golfer, do you have lodging onsite or partner with any area hotels?
We have multiple rooms on site as part of Par 5 Resort that range from standard hotel rooms to golf group villas. We are he perfect destination from groups of 4 or more!
